Many people say “I don’t know about IGO”.
That is not correct because most of the people who says so already know the rule. IGO is not welcomed because they do not know how to play not the rule itself.
There are only two rules in IGO. Both of them are easy to tell when you see the character “囲”. Rule No.1 When you surround a stone you can capture it. Rule No.2 When you surround intersections you can grab the territory.
If you know these rule, what you don’t know is all about how to play.
First rule, When you surround a stone you can capture it. it can be said military for a government. As the history proved, the stable and peace government without military is almost a fantasy. In IGO world, it is impossible to win without knowing how to fight in a close combat. Only you will see a destroyed and trampled field.
Rule No.2 When you surround intersections you can grab the territory. it indicate the land for the government. An aim of IGO(=the condition to win) is to grab more territory than an opponent. So even if you have more military power, often lose because of failure of political negotiation. The expand of military costs means fall of government. Just focus on fighting a close combat, leaving the territory matter behinds, leads you to lose as well.
As I mentioned, IGO could be one of the metaphor for the government to try to expand their land. Obviously the military power is necessary but it is not an absolute requirement.
You can win with a few agreements and negotiate at the border. It is possible to win without a war if you only have enough benefit. The expand of military cost has high possibility to destroy both countries.
Now, you know what IGO rule is right? What you need it to train yourself to win, as mentioned military and political power, which is how to play.
The politics does not always mean democracy. It all depends on one person’s judgement, it is more close to monocracy. You can have “an inner meeting”,where you can get an advice from outsiders in your mind for an accurate judgement. It will be your IGO constitution and build democracy. Or you prefer imperialism, or dump the chance to improve by pushing your authority.
That is all your choice.
